Ready To Find Natural Pain Relief? Manual Therapy Can Assist.
The AMERICAN HEADACHE INSTITUTE has developed a specific treatment approach for headache and migraine management based on the Findings Of The Neck Pain Task Force (Spine 2008, 33). The task force found the following treatments to be the most effective in the treatments of neck pain and headaches.
- Self Efficacy
- Manual Therapy
The focal point of our treatment is to teach our patients how to have less headaches by providing exercises and modification of daily activities to reduce pain. However, Manual Therapy can be used as an adjunct to the self management strategies we provide.
Types Of Manual Therapy
As with all of our techniques, the manual therapy we perform is safe and gentle because we assess the technique based on how your pain responds. There are several manual techniques used to help with neck pain and headache.
- Manual Traction: Is given when needed and is a gentle “unloading” or decompression of the cervical spine.
- Joint Mobilization: A technique in which restricted joints are loosened to improve mobility and reduce pain.
- Soft Tissue Mobilization: Soft tissue mobilization can be an effective tool to decrease muscle tension and reduce pain.
Manual Therapy can be a useful component of a well-rounded treatment program. To schedule an appointment at our Rochester Hills location, click here.
